Rolling Stock Components

Rail Engineering & Rolling Stock ComponentsSteloy Castings is fast-growing as the preferred supplier of high quality rolling stock components and castings to the rail engineering industry, with a customer base that includes first, second and support tier manufacturers, including Transnet, and general engineering support works.

Steloy supplies a variety of static cast components for the bearing portion of the wheel assembly, some of which include cannon boxes, axle boxes, horn frames, u-tubes and links.

We have also been responsible for the development and manufacture of railway self-steering bogie components for wagons supplied by Transwerk (since renamed Transnet Rail Engineering) for an iron ore mine in the Arctic Circle in Sweden. Calling for pioneering casting technology and development practices, the components had to be produced in special alloyed steels with exceptional dimensional accuracy, in order to operate at temperatures from 25°C to -40°C.
