Accreditation

Throughout our history and to this day, quality has been the pillar of the Steloy metal casting foundry group. We’ve worked hard to establish a reputation for quality, which is reflected in the production of sand castings and other cast components to the highest international standards, and as such, we have been recognised as one of the leading foundries in South Africa.

European Pressure Equipment Directive (PED)

In 2006, Steloy became the first South African foundry to be awarded European Pressure Equipment Directive (PED) 97/23/EC accreditation, ratified by TÜV Rheinland. This means that Steloy is accredited to produce castings in materials that include carbon, low-alloy steels and stainless steels to manufacturers of pressure vessels for sale into the European common marketing. Being qualified to produce PED-class castings allows pressure equipment manufacturers to attach the coveted CE (Conformité Européene) mark to each item of pressure equipment and experience significant time and cost savings associated with third-party inspection to ensure the verification of materials.

Training & Testing

In order to fill the critical gap in the foundry training structure, Steloy has applied and undergone a rigorous audit process by merSETA to become an approved training and test centre for chemically bonded sand moulding and pattern-making. And, at the beginning of July 2012, Steloy received official confirmation to go ahead with training and test operations which will be made available both internally to Steloy staff as well as to the industry at large.
